Film Appreciation - 10 classes

The film is presented in context with details about its creation. The film will be used as a visual aid to illustrate specific concepts such as lighting and color to communicate emotion: camera angles to create meaning; and distance between characters to imply relationships. Both current and classic films will be shown. Examples of films used in course could include Citizen Kane, Big Fish, Casablanca,  and On the Waterfront. If students are repeating, different films will be used.

The Film SalonNew Class 10 classes

The Film Salon is a fun, noncompetitive class on film criticism and interpretation. The class will view one film a week followed by spirited discussion.  Film included might be from a director's special oeuvre, a sampling of a specific genre, i.e. Film Noir, or a specific actor.  Join the discussion on classic Hollywood, new and old auteurs, as well as the state of current cinema.  A class for all film fanatics, film mavens, and film newbies! This class previously is taught by Kit Fisher, a filmmaker currently working in the field as a director and producer.
