GENERAL
- Why iPads instead of an android or laptop computers?
- Starting in 2010 Acalanes has researched multiple mobile technology device options to put in the hands of students. We have found the iPad to be an innovative device which allows students to access, create, and communicate anywhere, anytime, and in any subject area. With its stable operating system, robust iTunes store, and ability tobe managed remotely, the iPad is the best fit for our learning goals. In addition, the iPad's battery life, weight, and immunity to viruses makes it a perfect solution for our staff and students.
- What happens if the iPad gets damaged, is lost, or stolen?
- Each student is responsible for their iPad and their iPad should be enrolled in Apple's FindMyiPad app. If an iPad becomes damaged, the student will need to tell their teachers as well as inform the school administration immediately to learn how the student can repair their iPad.
- If an iPad is lost or stolen, the student will notify the Acalanes High School Administration immediatley. Students will use the FindMyiPad app in an attempt to locate their iPad. In addition if the iPad is stolen, the student and parent/guardian is required to file a police report. In the event of a student having their iPad lost or stolen, Acalanes may utilize location software to help in recovering the iPad.
- Will there be a loaner program?
- Acalanes has a small surplus of iPads available only to students whose iPad is in need of repair.
- Will there Internet restrictions or student limitations?
- While students on campus will have their internet content filtered, they will not when off campus. For more information on how you can help your student navigate the internet while off campus, please see our list of Parent Resources on the Technology Services page.
