Meet our Instructors in the Performing Arts Department

  • BRUCE LENGACHER - VOCAL MUSIC

    Acalanes Adult Education is pleased to welcome Bruce Lengacher to our program.  Bruce grew up surrounded by music and spent most of his Middle and High School years treading the boards of community and school stages performing in Musicals. He received his Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from San Francisco State University.

     

    For the past 21 years he served as the director of choral activities at Acalanes High School in Lafayette. Bruce has served as the General/Classroom Music,  Choral Representative and President for the Bay Section of the California Music Educators Association and is presently the CMEA Bay Section Past President. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the National Association for Music Education. Bruce has worked with Ragazzi Boys Chorus, the Peninsula Girls Chorus, Chanticleer and Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choirs. In 2014, he received the Acalanes High School Rose Award for Outstanding Teacher of the year and the CMEA Bay Section Choral Educator of the Year Award in 2015. He is a composer/arranger, a clinician, and a founding member of the Choral Project. He lives in El Cerrito, California with his wife, Leslie.


  • LETTIE BURNS - TAP DANCE

    Acalanes Adult Education is pleased to welcome Lettie Burns to our program. "It all started at Mrs. Bonner's dancing school." Born in San Antonio, TX, her training includes study at professional studios in Texas as well as New York and San Francisco. She combined her dancing with a career in the fashion world. A professional model at 19, she has worked throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. She has had many years' experience as a teacher - of modeling as well as dance. She has written, choreographed, and performed in many shows, including "Be a Performer" and "Performers on Tour."
