Dear AUHSD Community,
I am writing to share an important update regarding the District’s transition to by-trustee area elections.
At its meeting on October 15, the Governing Board considered seven proposed trustee area maps and adopted Resolution 25-26-20, approving Map 2 as the District’s official trustee area plan. The Governing Board also established the election sequence as follows: Trustee Areas 1, 3 and 5 will hold elections in November 2026 and Trustee Areas 2 and 4 in November 2028.
While Governing Board members will be elected by trustee area, it is important to emphasize that all Board members remain committed and are obligated to serving and supporting all students and all schools across the District.
Please note that these maps do not affect school attendance boundaries. All current Governing Board members will continue to serve their existing terms and may seek reelection in their respective trustee areas.

The District initiated the transition from an at-large election system following a legal challenge to the current structure. As part of this process, we sought public input on proposed trustee area plans through multiple public hearings on August 6, August 20, 2025, September 3, September 17, and October 15.
