UPDATE: Spring Term Classes, Face-to-Face, Postponed Until Monday, May 4, 2020

March 25, 2020

Dear Acalanes Adult Education Students and Staff,

I hope this update finds you and your families remaining healthy during this COVID-19 shelter-in-place.

There has been a joint press release statement issued earlier today, Wednesday, March 25, stating, "Seven Bay Area county health officers, in collaboration with their six county superintendents of schools, have made a unified, regional decision to extend school closures and student dismissals from regular school attendance through May 1, 2020, to slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent possible.  The safety and wellness of students, school personnel, and the community are the highest priorities of all schools and districts in these six counties."

Given this new directive, the Acalanes Union High School District and Acalanes Adult Education will remain closed through May 1, 2020.

The entire staff at the Del Valle Education Center thank you for your patience and understanding as we all, together, navigate this unprecedented event.

Thank you,

Steven France, Director Del Valle Education Center

Dear Acalanes Adult Education Students and Staff,

The entire staff at Acalanes Adult Education are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff.  I understand the increase in questions and concerns regarding our programs in conjunction with the continual developments as they relate to Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Contra Costa Health Services recommend older adults and those with severe chronic medical conditions take special precautions as they are at a higher risk.  Additionally, guidance recommends adults over 50 and those with underlying medical conditions that put them at risk should avoid attending large events.

Our students and staff health is paramount.  Currently, there are no confirmed cases directly affecting Acalanes Adult Education.

Acalanes Adult Education will postpone the start of our Spring Session to Monday, April 6, 2020.  Classes will not be in session March 16 – 27, and we are on Spring Break March 30 – April 3, 2020.

For our fee-based classes, we will provide a pro-rated refund once we commence the start of our Spring Term in April.

Thank you,

Steven France, Director
