ABOUT COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The California Community College system has 116 campuses throughout California. All campuses offer courses that prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or career training program. See link here. For various reasons, many students choose to begin at community college and then transfer to a four-year college to complete their degree. Current high school students may also choose to take community college courses for academic advancement or in a subject area not offered at Las Lomas for college credit. Either way, Diablo Valley College (DVC) in Pleasant Hill is the most commonly attended community college among Las Lomas students.

DVC Registration Event
We are happy to announce the in-person return of Viking Day – now called Registration Rocks – which is a one-day express registration event for graduating high schools who are still in the process of completing our enrollment steps. This will be held at our Pleasant Hill campus on Saturday, May 7th, the priority registration day for high school seniors.
Students will be able to complete the orientation, English and math placements, educational planning, and register for classes. Campus tours and a workshop for parents will also be offered.
We highly recommend that students complete a summer application as first-time college students prior to the event. Anyone submitting applications on that day will not be able to complete the remaining steps during Registration Rocks.
The flyer above includes the Registration Rocks webpage link. Students must RSVP in order to attend the event.
DVC ENROLLMENT FOR GRADUATING SENIORS
More information is available on DVC for Graduating HS Senior.
I have digitized the enrollment package for your easy reference. Hard copies are also available in the Career and College Center.
Class registration starts the morning of May 7 (Saturday). You must complete Counseling 095 class prior to registration.
PRO TIP 1: Students will need to send two applications for DVC - one for Spring 2022 as a "high school student enrolling in a college course" (in order to attend Counseling 095/096) and one for Summer 2022 as a "first-time college student" (so they can start attending in Summer OR in the Fall). It is important that they verify their email for both applications in order to start the application process and receive their DVC Student ID number.
PRO TIP 2: You will need an unofficial transcript for Placement (Step 3). You will need to report your UNWEIGHTED Academic GPA + 11th grade 2nd semester English grade + 11th grade 2nd semester Math grade. Placement process is complete after you have submitted your unofficial transcript to DVC. More info on DVC's Placement process here.
PRO TIP 3: Check your insite email often for updates and instructions.
