Classroom Technology Policy
“Screens On Request”
Las Lomas High School believes all students can benefit from focused, rigorous instruction that is as disruption free as possible. In order to better serve the students, LLHS has adopted a “Screen’s on Request” policy which is outlined below:
- Students may ONLY have screens out in a classroom upon teacher's request.
- No headphones/earbuds of any kind in your ears once the bell rings.
- A screen could be a laptop, tablet, phone, or watch.
- Your device must be charged prior to the start of class.
- You may NOT bring your phone with you on a bathroom break.
Teachers will choose some combination of the following storage options and share their class policy with students:
-
- Phones turned off and in caddy
- Phones turned off and in backpacks
- Laptops/tablets are in backpacks
- Laptops/tablets are closed and on desks
- Students are welcome to keep phones in their lockers and not bring them to class.
Consequences for each violation of classroom policy:
If a teacher sees a phone, calls the office, campus supervisors will come and get the phone, it will be locked in the office. Students can go to the office at the end of day to get the phone.
-
-
- 1st offense- AP will return the phone at the end of the day to the student.
- 2nd offense- AP will call parents to alert them of the 2nd offense of having a phone out in class.
- 3rd- AP calls parent/guardian to come to school to pick up the phone and meet with AP and student.
-
Continued usage of personal devices not for academic uses can generate additional behavioral consequences such as detention or a student being required to check their phone into the office each day.
