• Measure G & A Citizens' Oversight Committee Report

    March 5, 2025

Dear Members of the Governing Board of Acalanes Union High School District,

On behalf of the Measures G & A Citizens' Oversight Committee, I am pleased to report on the committee findings as required by the ballot measures and the committee bylaws. The committee has reviewed the annual district budget as it relates to Measures G&A and examined efforts by the school district to carefully utilize parcel tax revenues. After consideration, the committee has concluded that the proceeds from Measures G&A have been spent in accordance with the ballot language of both measures.

The spending breakdown of the $10,634,949 in parcel tax revenue is summarized in slides 7 & 9 of the accompanying presentation and is consistent with the language of the ballot measures. In addition to preserving core academics and smaller class sizes, funding from Measures G&A enables the district to offer an increasing number of AP/Honors and college preparatory courses, a seven period day, academic counselors, and career center support as shown in slides 11-13.

As noted in previous committee reports, Measures G&A parcel taxes are fixed and the overall proceeds to the district barely fluctuate. The cost of providing educational instruction, on the other hand, continues to rise. This has led to a decline in the buying power or amount of services that Measures G&A can provide. This is shown in slides 8 & 10.

    Thank you for your consideration.
