If so, this class is for you! In this course, Guests will learn how to utilize a typical at-home sewing machine, read conventional sewing patterns, and construct articles of clothing. Each Guest will receive support in completing 1 - 2 sewing projects from start to finish. The main garment we will be working on constructing a beginner-friendly jacket. Guests are then encouraged to select a second project of their choice to work through in the remaining weeks of the course. Learn to thoroughly tool the metal including developing raised/embossed and recessed areas and working neatly with this unusual process. Develop aesthetic sensibility in creating a pleasing composition (use of space). Learn finishing techniques including antiquing, polishing, and mounting artwork.

Through guided visualization, we will enhance your creativity and find joy using mixed-media art techniques in collage. We will also delight in experiencing and expressing haiku moments. Between classes, you are encouraged to explore nature and record your haiku moments in your art journal. All levels are welcome. Note: This course will be taught by Kaleo Ching and Elise Dirlam-Ching.

Drawing is fundamental to most forms of art. We will explore the use of line, value, form, perspective, texture, and proportions throughout various drawing exercises. Guests will have group and individual instruction. Demonstrations and lectures will be given to educating each Guest. We will work from photographs of your choice, as well as occasional still lifes. Many class projects are geared for beginners and intermediate Guests. Advanced and intermediate Guests are welcome to work on their own personal projects to further perfect their skills. The class is monitored by an instructor who directs newbies and supports the experienced. While most work with glass, experiments with ceramics and other creative materials is encouraged.
