  • LISA RIGGE - DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES

Lisa Rigge received a Dream Leadership Certificate from the Haden Institute in 2010. This was an intensive program which taught how to facilitate dream groups, do one-on-one dreamwork, enabled her to understand the Junagian approach to dreamwork, and to look at the idioms and symbols in dreams and gain a basic understanding of what they mean. She holds an Adult Education Full-Time Clear Credential in the State of CA and has been teaching adults since the early 1990's. Many students who attend dream classes or want to do dream work prioritize self-growth through dream work as an important personal value. Lisa's philosophy is to help them accomplish this in various ways through the approaches she utilizes: provide books and resources that will help them continue to learn more about dreaming; teach the basics of the dreaming mind so that they understand the steps our brains go through in its stages of sleep; offer diverse practices of working with their own dreams to promote self-understanding; discuss the various kinds of dreams and how dreams have impacted artists, scientists and writers, and most importantly, to befriend the dream and the nightmare as images that come in health and wholeness. After Lisa took several classes from the late Jeremy Taylor, she began working with him as a Teaching Assistant when he held his numerous workshops in the Bay Area. Lisa went on to receive her Dream Leadership Certificate at the Haden Institute, where Jeremy also taught. Since 2004, Lisa has been leading two dream groups in her community, and has been with another dream group in the Walnut Creek area where they experiment with different methods of dream work. She has learned that, with dream work, people are vulnerable, and it's important to create a safe space for them, whether it's in a group or in a classroom. Lisa has participated in a combined art show of Soul Collage and Dream Collage, the latter a workshop she held monthly for several years in Livermore. She has written two articles for DreamTime Magazine, a publication by the International Association of Dreams, as well as had dream poetry/images published in The Rose in the World. Lisa attended numerous annual dream conferences, and she remains in contact with many people in the field of dream work.
