Planning a trip or want to connect with Mandarin speakers locally? This beginner-friendly course is designed for adults who want to learn basic, practical Mandarin in a relaxed setting. No prior experience needed! You will learn how to greet others, introduce yourself, ask for directions, order food, and handle simple travel situations. We will focus on speaking and listening, plus some basics on reading and writing. Cultural tips and role-play activities will help bring the language to life. Taught at a comfortable pace with plenty of practice, this course makes learning Mandarin both fun and rewarding.

WL200.2 Th 10/16-12/18 1 - 3pm Rm 101 Reg $180/Seniors $162 Liu Fun with Conversational Chinese - 8 Class Sessions This beginner-friendly course introduces Guests to the essentials of spoken Mandarin Chinese, with a focus on practical communication. Guests will learn the four tones, key pronunciation patterns, and foundational vocabulary to build confidence in everyday interactions. Through engaging activities and role-play, Guests will practice simple conversations on topics such as greetings, family, school, food, hobbies, and travel. No prior knowledge of Chinese is required—just curiosity and a willingness to practice!
- Week 1–2: Introduction to Mandarin & the Four Tones
- Week 3: Daily Conversations
- Week 4–5: Food & Hobbies
- Week 6–7 Travel & Everyday Life
- Week 8: Putting It All Together
By the end of the course, Guests will confidently engage in short, meaningful conversations in Mandarin.
