This course is a continuation of the Beginning level. Through immersion techniques, Guests will learn past tenses, commands, and the subjunctive mood. As in the beginning class, emphasis will be placed on Spanish voice and diction to further develop conversational and reading abilities.

This course segment will commence with a concise yet comprehensive review of two fundamental Spanish verb tenses: the present and the preterit. The review aims to solidify Guests' understanding of the conjugation, usage, and nuances of both tenses, ensuring a strong foundation for more complex grammatical structures. Following this tense review, the curriculum will delve into several key grammatical topics essential for building fluency and accuracy in Spanish. These topics will include a detailed examination of the distinctions and appropriate usage of the prepositions Por and Para, often a source of confusion for learners. Furthermore, Guests will gain a thorough understanding of demonstrative adjectives and pronouns, enabling them to effectively indicate and identify nouns. This quarter of Spanish will offer Guests a thorough review and significant expansion upon their existing understanding of both simple and compound verb tenses. We will move beyond basic recognition and usage to explore the nuances and specific contexts in which each tense is most appropriately applied.
